For the Love of the House

We moved in Labor Day weekend 2004. Then came the yard the next summer. It was a big project as some of you know. This is the most current pic that I can find, but we now have a fence, the backyard is finished and the plants have grown and are bigger. The reason I posted this is because we have an itch... we want to get out there and start on some new ideas. When I say we I really mean Scott; he's the mastermind of the yard. I just get to help with the weeding and maybe help plant some flowers, if he doesn't get to it first. Also, Scott made a short video of our construction of our home http://newbodimus.blogspot.com/ , check it out. The construction was fun to watch and Scott visited our home almost daily and took pics as the house went up. We enjoy our home and we continue to work inside and out to make our house a home.

25 Random Things about me....

I put this on Facebook, but I thought I would put it on my blog for others to see and for me to remember where I was this time in my life.

25. I'm relatively healthy and haven't had much more than a cold here and there for as long as I remember.

Yoga Anyone?

When Ethan was learning to crawl he didn't pull himself up on his hands and knees. He pulled himself up on his hands and toes. Looks to me like he is trying out yoga.

Helping Dada!

Ethan was about 10 or 11 months and we were finally getting to some gardening. Ethan decided it was time he started pulling his own weight around here. This is one of my favorite pics of Ethan and Scott. I had it up as my wallpaper on the computer for over a year. The yard was starting to get away from us a little, but oh, well... that tends to happen when we don't get out there and keep up with the weeds. Ethan took a little taste. I guess every kid needs to have a little dirt every once in awhile.

Good Ol' Texas

Grandma and Grandpa Caldwell lives in Eastern Texas near a small lake. This is our first trip out there with Bubba. We made the 2 day drive from Utah to Dallas where we caught up with the family and then we were off to the lake. Ethan did really well with the long drive and enjoyed time with his grandparents that he doesn't get to see very often.

Now Ethan is older, he wasn't quite sure what to take of all this. We went back to Texas back in July to attend our niece's blessing. Not the best time of the year to go down. It was very hot and humid and we were only outside for 5 minutes before our face would turn red and sweat started to drip. That didn't stop Ethan, he loved the outside and wanted to be out playing. He had a fun time playing with his cousin, Hannah, and a lot of fun with the other relatives who made the journey out there. Linda and Dave had a house full. Ethan was a pill and had a hard time adjusting to the new surroundings and I felt so bad that he wouldn't spend good quality time with his grandparents. It was a hard trip, but a worthwhile trip. Plus, the plane ride was great. Ethan's first time on the plane.

Ethan - 6 months

Here Ethan is at 6 months. 6 months seemed to be a very big milestone time for our little man. Ethan was more interested to learn to sit up than to try the rolling over thing. He always had great posture, and a nice straight back. It was exactly his 6 month mark that he finally started to roll over, got his first tooth, and of course sitting up on his own. What a day and if I remember right, it was also Easter. What a great day.

When Ethan's hair started coming in it was long and thin on top. It would stick straight up. We had many comments about his hair and how cute it was. We try to wet it down, but there was no stopping it, it wanted stand up for everyone to see. As you can tell, he has the same strawberry blonde hair as his mommy. Lucky him.

The Travelin' Man

This is my hubby, Scott. He'll probably get mad at me for posting this pic, but he was the one taking it, so he shouldn't complain. As some of you may know, Scott travels for work. He goes all over the place. Ethan and I miss him when he is gone, but this allows for me to stay at home with Ethan and be a full time mommy. I wouldn't be able to tell you everywhere he's been or how often he has been to certain areas, but I thought it would be fun for 2009 to keep track of where he goes and how often.
So far for 2009....
Herndon, Virginia
New York City, New York
Not a bad start for 2009.... I wonder where he'll go next?

Little Bubba

This is our little bubba. He was about 3 months old at this time. You may ask why we call him bubba. It was Scott you started calling him that because when Ethan started to babble and make his cute little baby noises he was saying babababa. So Scott started calling Ethan bubba and it stuck.
We still call Ethan, Bubba. Now he says it out loud if he does something naughty and he knows what he is doing. He'll whisper, "Bubba!" So cute! This pic was taken this fall on a nice Sunday afternoon after making cookies. He loves his chocolate.

Welcome to the Newman's News

Welcome to the Newman's new blog. I know some of you are saying, doesn't Scott have a blog? That is true, but I am starting this to be more for the family and to record our family history. Plus, Scott seems to think that I have all this time on my hands and he is soooo busy that he doesn't have time to keep up his blog. So he still has his blog and I now have mine.

One of my goals this years is to catch up and document milestones in our lives. So during this first little while of this blog I will post flashback memories of Ethan's first two years. Seeing that I haven't written anything for Ethan I feel I better start now before all is forgotten. While you read this blog if you have favorite memories of our family please do share, because I do have a good memory, but I do tend to forget. Let the fun begin!
