A Kickin' Good Time

We had the best weather this week, considering it's still February. We took Ethan for a walk, played outside, and Scott did some pruning. Ethan loved being outdoors. He ran and kicked his soccer balls.

It is amazing how many people start coming out of hibernation. It was good to get out and talk with neighbors again. I know winter isn't over yet, but it was good to have a little taste of spring to get me excited.

Here's a video of Ethan having a good time kicking his soccer balls, enjoy!

"Scott! More Juice!"

Ethan just finished his juice and I asked him if he needed some more and he holds out his cup and says, "Scott! More juice!" A little later I ask if he is ready for his milk and as he is perched on the recliner with his blankies and baby and holds out his cup once again and says, "Scott! More milk!" Hilarious! He usually doesn't call Scott by his name and this was so out of the blue. I have to say, I had a some good laughs tonight.

IT'S A ......

Thanks for all who participated in my silly poll. Most of you said I was having a boy; the results were pretty much 2 to 1. There were a couple who even said I was going to have an alien baby. Um? Wonder who that could be?

We went to the doctor this morning and found out that indeed, you were wrong (most of you, including me) .... I'm having a GIRL!!! Of course I wanted a little girl, but I was afraid to hope for one to be disappointed. Ethan will be a wonderful big brother. He was funny during the ultrasound. As soon as he saw the image of the baby come up he yelled "baby"... When they did a split screen he said, "two babies." He was leaning in so close he almost was on the bed with me. He had fun going the "Doctor Baby."

I included a couple of my ultrasound pics. I hope they are clear enough. The tech was pretty definite that it was a girl, something about 3 dark lines. I believe her, I didn't see anything that would say differently. This time we also got a DVD. I guess they started making DVDs this month. Lucky us, too bad I didn't have one for Ethan. Oh, well. Now I need to go shopping!!!

Baby Poll

So I thought it would be fun to see what you think I'm having. Take part of my poll and we'll see what happens. The final results will be in on Wednesday, the day of the ultrasound.

Amen

As we sit in church today, Ethan said, "Jesus Christ All Done" instead of saying amen to a prayer. Silly little bubba!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was spent with family. Mom and Dad treated the family to a yummy lunch (I mean all of us, 11 adult and 6 kids). Thank you mom and dad! We had a chance to get the kids together to play. There was some tears, fighting over toys, but a lot of laughs. We had the whole family together again. It was fun celebrating a few birthdays coming up... My dad (WOW #61) on the 15th, Rene's (she is still a youngster at 27) on the 22nd, and my cute little nephew Skyler (BIG #1) on March 3rd. There was some presents for everyone. All the older grand kids got a fun memory game from Grandma and Grandpa Riddle.

Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Newman for watching Ethan for us so we could have a date night. Ethan helped decorate some yummy cookies and watched Toy Story, his favorite. He had a great time, but crashed, he was very tired from his busy day.

Of course, Scott remembered me and surprised me with roses and chocolate. He says he doesn't do Valentine's Day very well, but I think he did just fine. Thanks, baby!

Kangaroo Zoo

Friday, I (and a few more adults... aka, Grandpa, Jaime, and Becky) took Ethan to Kangaroo Zoo with his cousins, Austin and Bryson. These boys had so much fun that they wouldn't stop for me to take pictures. So my pics were mostly blurry. Oh, well. I picked out a few pics that I think weren't too bad. The boys jumped, climbed and slid down slides for 1 1/2 hours. They were so exhausted after their outing that Ethan and Austin left in tears. Ethan was asleep within 5 minutes on the road home. What a fun place to allow the kids to run and jump and be kids. Thanks Sarah for your suggestion.

Ma-U Po-U

Hearing Ethan talk and communicate with us is so precious. His first word was of course dada. He didn't say mama well after he had his 1st birthday. We tried and we tried to get him to say mama and finally one day when Scott was out of town he finally said it. It was a Sunday and it was a very hard day having Ethan and teaching Primary all by myself at our late 2:30 schedule. It was a very bad day, but when Ethan said Mama... The day got so much better. Now he is talking and chatting up a storm. We love to hear him putting words together and telling us what he is doing or what he wants.

Ethan has a hard time saying the E sound at the end of words when the word ends with a Y. He'll say Ma-u instead of Mommy and Po-U instead of potty. I break mommy up into 2 syllables and he'll be able to repeat it, but the next second he'll revert back to his old ways. It cracks Scott up and he intentionally has Ethan say "mommy potty" and it comes out as "ma-u po-u".

Lesson Learned

We were watching Friends last night and one of the characters yelled out "Son of a B...", you know, I don't have to spell out for you. Anyways, all of the sudden I hear an echo... Ethan was playing on the floor and repeated what he just heard. Thank goodness he doesn't speak clearly, but I knew what he said. I was laughing so hard that I had tears coming down my face. I guess I need to be careful what Ethan see and hears, you'll never know what he'll repeat. Ah, 2 year olds....

Our BIG Helper

On Saturday we made a trek down to IKEA, once again. This time in search for a shelf to house more of our books and other things we need to find a place for. This shelf is a lot bigger than we expected, but we definately won't have a problem filling it up. The cute red boxes will be for my scrapbooking stuff, cool huh?
Ethan couldn't help himself, he saw a need and grabbed his hammer and came to the rescue, Daddy needed his help. He had a hard time not helping and playing with mommy, so I just sat around taking pictures. Ethan had so much fun trying to help of course, Ethan was always right there in Scott's way making Scott a little frustrated. Ethan even tried to hammer in the wooden pegs, it was so much fun to watch.
