When we were looking at the itinerary for the cruise I was very excited to see Naples as one of the ports for one reason, Pompeii! Who hasn't heard of Pompeii? I had to go back to my World Geography/history class, but this was an ancient city that was buried in volcanic ash from the infamous Mt. Vesuvius. Excavation of Pompeii has been going on for about 300 years and it is only 2/3rds done. It was just an amazing experience to be there and to walk the streets and looking at these ancient ruins. There are a ton of pictures in no particular order. Enjoy!
Scott's picture!
Another Scott picture!
Scott was in heaven here! So many things to take pictures of... He was always lagging behind and always had his camera up and ready!
Another picture from Scott!
This place was massive!
I almost got a smile :)
I think I was starting a jig of something!
Scott was too busy to remember me so I took a quick picture of myself :)
These were the actual roads... The elevated circles were their "crosswalks" usually there were some unpleasant stuff littering the roads and these circles were so they can cross without getting their feet in the mess.
Scott took this picture of this guy who was unfortunate and lost his life. Most Pompeii residents didn't perish, but slaves and people foolish enough to return for their precious items lost their lives.
Told ya! Scott was always armed and ready!
Mt. Vesuvius!
Listening up on the info!
Pompeii was spectacular!

Sorrento
BEAUTIFUL!
Panoramic that Scott took of the Sorrento coast!
Not too many beaches, but a lot of cliffs! Spectacular views. We were told Amalfi was similar.
We actually talked someone into taking this picture of us!
This street was a switchback!
Street after street of small shops!
Very into lemons!
More lemons!
Love this picture! You would see a small table and chairs tucked into small little alley ways. Felt Italian!
Restaurant or cafe!
The said "tipical Itailian Restaurant" We thought that was funny because we had lunches provided for us on our long tours and they referred to them as "typical Italian lunch" I also loved the spelling of Typical!
Leaving Naples!
It was a long day! Saying goodbye to Mt. Vesuvious!
Next.... Rome!!!!!
